Morocco tour from Casablanca – itinerary:

1st day: Casablanca – Rabat – Chefchaouen

After breakfast in your hotel, you will visit the Hassan II mosque, the largest mosque in Africa and the world’s highest religious building. Decorated with beautiful tiling work and fine Moroccan craftsmanship and offering splendid views of the ocean, the mosque is an awesome sight.

Next, you drive on the highway for an hour to Rabat, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and is home to several historical and cultural landmarks.

Here, you will visit the symbol of the city, the Hassan Tower, and then the Mohamed V Mausoleum, built in homage to the king. After lunch, there is time to visit the vibrant Medina, the Oudaya Gardens, and Kasbah.

From here, your travel through the highway to Chefchaouen, crossing Ouazzane and the Middle Atlas Mountains to finally arrive at Chefchaouen by the end of the afternoon.

After lunch, you can spend the rest of the day exploring the blue-washed alleyways and the colourful medina. In the evening, sip a glass of mint tea in one of the many cafés overlooking the green hills and the fertile valleys and have dinner in one of the restaurants at the heart of the town—overnight in a beautiful riad.

2nd day: Chefchaouen Sightseeing

After a traditional breakfast in the riad, you can go on a half sightseeing tour with a local guide who can show you attractions and take you to interesting spots that you will not get to on your own. If desired, hike to the Rif Mountains to explore the beautiful natural setting and admire the blue city’s magical views and the surrounding countryside.

The rest of the day can be spent exploring the beautiful white-washed alleyways and the blue-painted medina after lunch. Relax in one of the many cafés overlooking the green hills and the valleys.

3rd day: Chefchaouen – Fes

After a traditional breakfast, you leave the blue city and drive to Fes, the oldest Imperial City of Morocco. The itinerary takes you to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Roman remains of Volubilis. Here, it is recommended to hire a local guide to get rich insights into this interesting site’s fascinating history.

From here, the itinerary continues to the holy town of the Moulay Idriss. Even though the mausoleum is not accessible to Non-Muslims, the town’s main square offers beautiful views and is full of little colourful shops selling souvenirs.

Afterwards, you travel through the green fields and the Rif region’s countryside as far as Fes. Here, a beautiful riad offers night’s rest.

4th day: Fes Sightseeing

Following your breakfast, go on a full day Fes sightseeing tour. Visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Fes El Bali “Old Fes” and explore the medieval medina and its busty alleyways full of shops selling leather and metal souvenirs and goods.

Photograph the spectacular Bab Boujloud gate and the massive walls of its medieval city. Pay a visit to Bou Inania Madrasa and Al-Kairaouine Madrasa, founded by Fatima Al Fahmi and is listed by the Guinness World Records as the oldest university in the world.

In the afternoon, explore the Fes El Jdid, “New Fes” Here, you can visit the Museum of Moroccan Arts and photograph the King’s Royal Palace. Pay a visit to the leather tanneries, one of the landmarks of Fes. Spend the overnight in your riad.

5th day: Fes – Merzouga

After an early breakfast, you travel past Ifrane, nicknamed the Switzerland of Morocco because its houses have sloppy roofs to cope with the seasonal snowfall. Right after Ifrane, you start ascending the Middle Atlas Mountains, driving via Berber villages and through the beautiful cedar forest of Azrou, where you can witness Barbary apes roaming around the trees.

Lunch is served in Midelt, nicknamed “the apple capital,” and nested near the Ayachi Mountain. After crossing the Tizi-n-Talghemt pass, you drive along the Ziz Valley, full of palm trees and fortified kasbahs. Shortly after, you will arrive at Erfoud to visit the local exhibits and see how the fossils are processed into interesting artefacts and souvenirs.

In Rissani, the edge of Erg Chebbi dunes, an hour camel ride to the dunes from which, the sunset is spectacular.

You will be welcomed by traditional mint tea and refreshments and check-in to your private nomad tent at the camp. At night, dinner is served under the Saharan sky, followed by a musical play of Berber singing and drumming around a fire camp. Overnight in your nomad tent near the big dunes.

6th day: Merzouga Free Day

After breakfast in the camp, we offer you 2 desert adventures to choose from.

Option 1: Go a full day of desert trekking to explore the expansive dunes of Erg Chebbi. You can either ride the camels or walk behind them as they warry what’s needed for your lunch. You will be accompanied by camel men and nomad guides who will guide you through the Sahara Desert and prepare your lunch.

Experience transportation the nomadic way and have a picnic in an oasis among the dunes. You will trek for about 3 hours in the morning and another 3 hours in the afternoon, returning to the desert camp.

Option 2: Spend half a day in the desert, and after lunch, you take the car and experience 4×4 driving around the dunes. You will visit the Khamlia village to sip a glass of tea with a Berber family and then watch the Sub-Saharan perform Gnawa music.

At the campsite, experience a sunset camel ride to the top of the Erg Chebbi dunes. At night, taste dinner under the starlit sky of the desert and share an evening of traditional music and drumming with the nomads—overnight in your private nomad tent.

7th day: Merzouga – Dades Gorges

Get up early in the morning to catch the spectacle of the sunrise, and the never-ending sand-dunes compose an awesome sight. Having had breakfast in the camp, you set out behind the High Atlas Mountains on the way to the Toudgha Gorges. 

We continue driving past Tinghir Village and then the Toudgha Gorges, a hotspot for hiking enthusiasts. Here, there are plenty of opportunities for walks in the gorge itself or by the riverbank and into the gardens.

After lunch at the gorge’s edge, the journey continues towards Dades Gorges, passing by the interesting Tamnalt Hills. Dinner and overnight in the heart of Dades Gorges lined by the red and mauve rocks.

8th day: Dades Gorges – Marrakech

After breakfast, there is an opportunity for a walk in the Dades Valley. From here, the journey continues through the Roses Valley to Kel’aa M’gouna, where you can visit the co-operatives that produce cosmetics products from the flowers of the valley. Skoura Oasis, pay a visit to the beautifully restored Kasbah Amredhil and tour its small museum. 

Next, you will drive through the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, where many fortified kasbahs stand tall among the palm trees. Your tour continues to Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that set the scene for many Hollywood movies. After a one-hour visit to the Kasbah, you travel along the beautiful Ounila Valley to arrive in Kasbah Telouet.

Lunch will be served here; otherwise, it will be in the Atlas Mountains. A visit is scheduled to the kasbah, situated in the middle of the mountains. Kasbah Telouet served once as a residential palace for the last Pasha of Marrakech and the El Glaoui Tribe. 

You travel via the famous Tizi-n-Tichka and over the high Atlas Mountains. Along the road, stop at panoramic viewpoints for breaks and to capture inspiring photos. By the end of the afternoon, you will arrive at Marrakech, where an authentic riad offers night rest.

9th day: Marrakech Sightseeing

After a traditional breakfast in your riad, enjoy a full-day guided tour of Marrakech. You will visit the following attractions:

The Majorelle Gardens: a serene garden originally designed by Jacques Majorelle and owned by Yves Sait Laurent. With its washed blue setting, Majorelle contains fish pools, a little bridge, and paths, plenty of plants and trees, as well as relaxing cafés and restaurants.

The Kotoubia Mosque: is one of the largest, most beautiful mosques and a landmark in the red city. The mosque is built in a traditional Almohad style, and the tower (69m) is adorned with four copper globes.

El Bahia Palace: “the palace of the beautiful” is an excellent and beautiful representation of the Eastern Architecture from the 19th century that exemplifies the wealthy’s standards who lived at that time. Ahmad Ibn Musa built this fascinating place between 1894 and 1900. With its tiled walls and illuminated cedar wood ceiling, the palace is an amazing representation of Fes craftsmanship.

The Saadian Tombs: dating back from the time of the sultan Ahmed Al-Mansur (1578-1603), the tombs were discovered in 1971 and were restored. Because of its delicate decorations and unique architecture, the mausoleum has become a major attraction to Marrakech’s visitors.

Djemaa El Fna: Marrakech is probably best known for its main square with its juice stalls, dried fruits, spice sellers, snake charmers, women applying henna, storytellers, and the myriad of nightly food stalls. Explore the souks and shops of Marrakech.

10th day: Marrakech – Casablanca

Depending on your flights, you will be transferred from Marrakech to Casablanca or to the airport to catch your flight. This will mark the end of your fabulous 10-day Morocco tour from Casablanca.
